The phrase 'SEO' stands for Search Engine Optimisation. In my opinion, it covers many things in relation to a website, but it's most commonly used to describe...
There are lots of places that you can use keywords, though some of them are better than others, and make your words count for more. Here is the first part of my list of the best places to use keywords:
How you lay out a page is an important part of optimising it for the search engines. A good heading structure helps the search engines get an idea of what your page is about, and how the different sections of content relate to each other.
Back in 2009, Google expanded its Personalized Search functionality to affect everybody using the search engine. Before this, only those signed in to Google could use this feature, and had to opt-in to the service. These days, everybody using Google will have their website visit history recorded unless they choose to opt-out of the service.
The rule of ‘first link priority,’ its importance, and whether it even exists is a hotly-discussed subject amongst web developers and those in the SEO field, with some calling it a theory, and others taking it very seriously indeed.
Search engines have come a long way in recent years, and while changes to search algorithms (what the engines operate on) may go completely unnoticed by the average user, they sometimes really shake up the world of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
